The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we had such a great time wandering the streets of uptown with them, looking for good light and talking about The Hunger Games. :)

Since Michelle & John love Charlotte so much and they’re having their reception at Roof With a View, we all thought it was only fitting that we end the session with some shots of the skyline!

So, this past summer, we were so happy to see on Facebook (where else??? :)) that Nathan had asked Kathryn to marry him!

And, we’ve heard about some of the details of the wedding day, so to say we are excited would be an understatement!  We can’t wait to see what they have in store for us on May 26th at Alexander Homestead! :)

Now, five years later, M & B  are are getting married in June at St. Peter’s and having their reception at the Mint Museum Uptown but they now live in the Washington, D.C. area.  After meeting these two, we were already excited about their wedding.  But, when we heard they wanted to do their session in D.C., excited was not a strong enough word!  You see, when I (Ashley), was in 4th grade I couldn’t wait for the 8th grade field trip to Washington, D.C.  From the chartered bus ride, the hotel room with your favorite friends, to the reports they taped the outside of your hotel room door, and all the museums and monuments…well, you get the idea, I was excited!  So, wouldn’t you know it, the year I get into 8th grade, they change the curriculum.  It was instead Florida studies and the trip was to places around Florida!  Um, for a girl that had lived in Florida her whole life, this was not the trip I had dreamed of taking!

Fast forward 16 YEARS LATER, and I finally got my trip to D.C.!!  So, like I said, excited wasn’t a strong enough word!  Although there were no chartered buses and no one taped the door of our room, it was still everything I imagined and more!

We had such a fun time with Maureen & Bobby…couldn’t have asked for better tour guides!  Not to mention they are so sweet and so in love…you’ll see!

We started off the session at the Washington Monument…

Then, we headed over to the National WWII Memorial…

Maureen & Bobby love Georgetown (and now Jere & I do too), so we headed there next…

Who loves ice cream? These two!  So, of course it was only fitting that we stop for some…

After the shoot, M & B wanted to take us to one of their favorite spots for dinner and we’re so glad they did!  The Lost Dog Cafe has such great pizza, an amazing beer selection, and their foundation finds homes for rescued dogs (and cats).  To learn more, check out their website here!

Oh, and these two were so fun, hilarious (Chantz had us all laughing the entire time!),  and natural models (they made our job easy!).

Fast forward to what started out as picking on each other in 10th and 11th grade, turned into flirting by their senior year.  They liked each other but neither of them said a word about it to the other.  So, when Haley was to be crowned Carrousel Princess at Homecoming she needed an escort.  And, who did she ask? Ian.  That boy she wanted to kill so many years before.

On September 30th, as they approached the archway on the field, Ian asked Haley if she would be his girlfriend.  She said “YES!”  Then, they stepped under the arch, and had their picture taken for the first time as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Five years later, on a carriage ride around uptown Charlotte for their anniversary, Ian asked Haley if she would be his wife.  And, again, she said “YES!”       For their engagement session we headed to the Biltmore Estate!  I had never been in the spring before and it did not disappoint!  Gorgeous!   You’re so beautiful, Haley!Can you tell who their favorite team is???

Thank you for a beautiful day at Biltmore!  Haley, we can’t wait to see you in your wedding gown for the bridals!  And, of course, can’t wait to see the both of you on May 19th…..2012!!  It’ll be here before we know it!  :)

The wedding day will be here before we know it and I can’t wait to see all the beautiful jewelry and details on June 4th at the Biltmore Forest Country Club!

Kathleen was able to get us access to a GORGEOUS private garden for part of the shoot and it did not disappoint.  I seriously could have stayed there all day…LOVE this…We had planned to stop here (below, left) for a couple shots but the light was even better than when we had seen it while scouting locations…Since it was Easter weekend, I couldn’t resist…

Love this first shot…Jere was pretty proud of himself when he accidentally got M&J through the window of a passing car…

As usual, a fabulous job on makeup by Who’s the Fairest…My view…Jere’s view…I love the banjo so I was excited to hear they would be bringing it along.  Everyone in Jason’s family plays an instrument and they don’t have a Ukulele player yet.  So, guess who’s taking lessons…Meredith! :)

I have my fingers crossed for a jam session at their Eagles Nest wedding in Banner Elk, NC this July! ;)

We’re so glad we finally got to meet the two of you in person!  Thank you for such a fun afternoon!  We can’t wait to see you guys in July!!!
