In December, CJ & Stephen will be celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary!  So, in order to commemorate this time in their lives, they contacted us to take some photos.  We were of course absolutely honored!  And, since they are amazing photographers, we were a bit nervous as well! :)  But, anyone who knows them, knows how easy-going they are, so we weren’t nervous for long.

CJ & Stephen decided they wanted to start their session off on the property they’re going to build their home on.  And, since it was a little on the chilly side, a fire was a perfect idea…    

Then, we headed over to downtown Kings Mountain…so cute…Since Stephen is making the cabinets, doors and floors for their new home (amazing, right!? :)), he spends a lot of time in the workshop.  So, it was only fitting that we ended the session there…

It was such an honor to document this time in your lives!  Happy Anniversary…we wish you many, many more!! :)

Now, five years later, M & B  are are getting married in June at St. Peter’s and having their reception at the Mint Museum Uptown but they now live in the Washington, D.C. area.  After meeting these two, we were already excited about their wedding.  But, when we heard they wanted to do their session in D.C., excited was not a strong enough word!  You see, when I (Ashley), was in 4th grade I couldn’t wait for the 8th grade field trip to Washington, D.C.  From the chartered bus ride, the hotel room with your favorite friends, to the reports they taped the outside of your hotel room door, and all the museums and monuments…well, you get the idea, I was excited!  So, wouldn’t you know it, the year I get into 8th grade, they change the curriculum.  It was instead Florida studies and the trip was to places around Florida!  Um, for a girl that had lived in Florida her whole life, this was not the trip I had dreamed of taking!

Fast forward 16 YEARS LATER, and I finally got my trip to D.C.!!  So, like I said, excited wasn’t a strong enough word!  Although there were no chartered buses and no one taped the door of our room, it was still everything I imagined and more!

We had such a fun time with Maureen & Bobby…couldn’t have asked for better tour guides!  Not to mention they are so sweet and so in love…you’ll see!

We started off the session at the Washington Monument…

Then, we headed over to the National WWII Memorial…

Maureen & Bobby love Georgetown (and now Jere & I do too), so we headed there next…

Who loves ice cream? These two!  So, of course it was only fitting that we stop for some…

After the shoot, M & B wanted to take us to one of their favorite spots for dinner and we’re so glad they did!  The Lost Dog Cafe has such great pizza, an amazing beer selection, and their foundation finds homes for rescued dogs (and cats).  To learn more, check out their website here!

Kathleen was able to get us access to a GORGEOUS private garden for part of the shoot and it did not disappoint.  I seriously could have stayed there all day…LOVE this…We had planned to stop here (below, left) for a couple shots but the light was even better than when we had seen it while scouting locations…Since it was Easter weekend, I couldn’t resist…

Love this first shot…Jere was pretty proud of himself when he accidentally got M&J through the window of a passing car…

As usual, a fabulous job on makeup by Who’s the Fairest…My view…Jere’s view…I love the banjo so I was excited to hear they would be bringing it along.  Everyone in Jason’s family plays an instrument and they don’t have a Ukulele player yet.  So, guess who’s taking lessons…Meredith! :)

I have my fingers crossed for a jam session at their Eagles Nest wedding in Banner Elk, NC this July! ;)

We’re so glad we finally got to meet the two of you in person!  Thank you for such a fun afternoon!  We can’t wait to see you guys in July!!!

Jere and I met up with Joan and Allen this past weekend to shoot their engagement session.  The weather was absolutely beautiful…I wish it could stay this way all year!  Between the weather, the lighting and the couple, we couldn’t have asked for anything more!

After The Point, we headed to a boat dock near where Allen proposed to Joan…and Jere and I were in love with this location…

Since these two live in Davidson, we headed there next…

These two love to head to The Soda Shop so of course, we had to head there as well.  ;)  I wasn’t going to pass up the chance to get a milkshake (chocolate, please)…

And, we had to meet their sweet, sweet, sweet fur-baby, Roxy!  She is such a cutie…
