Meet the Barbers…Bryan, Amy, and little Miss Sophie! The plan was for little Miss Sophie to sleep during the session, but she had other plans. But, I can’t blame her. Why wouldn’t she want to stay awake and hang out with Jere and I??? So, with a lot of swinging her from side to side, and an electric toothbrush (they learned that she liked the sound of it), she closed her eyes for a little while. And, we didn’t waste any time getting some sleeping baby shots! I can’t image what woke her up. It couldn’t have been from her lying practically naked with her legs tucked up under herself, or resting her chin on her arms…and then putting beanies on her head. No, it couldn’t have been any of that. I guess we’ll never know.
Jere and I had great time hanging out with the whole family (including Maddox and Cooper) while we waited for Sophie to fall asleep. It was a pleasure witnessing the love that you have for each other and for Sophie. Congratulations on your precious little miracle!!
P.S. I hope all three of you were able to sleep good that night!

When Caroline called and wanted us to do a shoot of her and her dog, we were excited because we had never done a shoot where the animal was the star! After Jere hung up with her, I got to thinking about the shoot and which park it would be at, would it be a nice park that we would feel safe in (I know, I’m such a baby), what kind of dog she has…yes, that’s right, didn’t even ask what kind of dog! So, the next evening when Caroline came out the front door with a 100 lb. German Shepherd, I’m not gonna lie, I was a little shocked and scared! But, on the plus side, I was no longer afraid of which park we were going to…nobody was going to bother us with this dog around!
But, after spending about 5 seconds with Mercedes, it was obvious what a sweetheart she is!

I love this shot! Can you tell it was just a bit cold???

Caroline Eller is a wedding photojournalist here in Charlotte, so while it a little nerve-wracking to shoot a fellow photographer, it was still such an honor! Jere and I want to again thank you for meeting up with us a year ago and allowing a couple of newbies to pick your brain!
We will forever be grateful for your kindness.

Bridals, Children, Engagements, Family, Jere and Ashley, Maternity, Personal, Portraits, Seniors, The Dottens, Weddings | Tags: Ashley, Bridals, Children, Engagements, Family, Jere, Maternity, Personal, Portraits, Seniors, The Dottens, Weddings
I just wanted to quickly share with everyone the flowers that Jere gave me on our anniversary this past Tuesday. I told him he didn’t have to get me anything…but he still did! He stopped by one of The Blossom Shop locations in Charlotte. When you walk in they don’t have any displays for you to choose from so he was able to pick out which flowers and colors I like and they made the custom arrangement! They are so beautiful and I love them, and I love you, baby! Thank you!!

…I hoped he would be there…and he was.
In December 2005, a friend told me I had to get on MySpace. And, I responded, What is MySpace? So, reluctantly, I created a profile page and in a few days I was addicted like everyone else…posting pictures, sending glittery greeting to friends. I’m not gonna lie, I was having fun. Soon after, I was invited to attend a birthday gathering of a new friend I had made online. Well, on that new friend’s profile page I spotted a guy’s profile by the name of ‘Skylimiter.’ I thought he was REALLY cute and when I clicked on some of his photos, I saw this weird word, ‘Jere,’ which I pronounced ‘Jair,’ and thought what the heck is that?! I think I showed everyone that would look that profile picture…my mom, my grandma, my aunt, my brother, my friend, Marlene, strangers on the street…everyone. By the night of the birthday I had recruited Marlene to come with me to Mickey Finns where everyone was meeting for Wing Night and pool. I wasn’t even sure if he was going to be there…I hoped he would be there…and he was.
We flirted back and forth over games of pool, and the whole night I wondered if he liked me. I found out much later that the whole night he was wondering if he smelled! Turns out, he had sold his house and had spent the day packing up a moving truck. Thinking it was going to be a simple dinner with some close friends, he hadn’t stopped to shower. Well, I never smelled a thing (thank goodness) but he obviously wasn’t too worried about it because he gave me a hug goodbye…and asked for my phone number. As I gave him my number he typed it into his phone, and then my phone rang. I looked down to see who it was, and he said now you have my number. We’ve talked and texted ever since.
Jere (Jair), I’m so happy to have not only met you 4 years ago today, but to have also married you two years ago today! I love you so very much and I thank God for bringing you into my life.
This is a photo taken in February 2006. It was our first all-day date at Universal Studios. You know, stuck with this person all day-wonder if you’ll run out of things to talk about-not have anything in common-flat out not like this person by the end of the day date. We had just walked through the gates when we stopped to take this picture. It ended up being one of the best days of my life. We rode ALL the rides, ate lunch at Margaritaville, wandered around City Walk. Yeah, good day.
